Before you answer, “I don’t really know”, or “I just want to lose 10 lbs,” I want you to pause a moment and consider the idea that fear might be stopping you from really admitting what your soul craves. If we keep our expectations low then we won’t be disappointed, right? Wrong! Now, is not the time to think small. If not now then when?  

The question  “What do you really want?” can be a bit overwhelming so let’s take a step back and look at what you know you don’t want. Think back to your past experiences or even consider your current situation. What habits do you have that you don’t want? What are some obstacles that seem to get in your way? What frustrates you? What experiences are you trying to avoid?

Write a list of all habits, experiences, obstacles, struggles, and relationships that you don’t want.

Now the fun part!

I want you to list 10 of your wildest, craziest and most outrageous desires you have for yourself.  Now is not the time to censor yourself. No one is going to judge you and tell you that you are being ridiculous. I invite you to dream big and connect with what your heart truly desires!

After you have listed 10 of your deepest desires I want you to close your eyes and visualize yourself achieving your desires/goals. Now I want you to write how you would feel after you accomplished it. Please write in first person. Feelings you might experience could be strength, empowerment, energy, joy, gratitude or wholeness just to name a few.

If you found this exercise difficult, don’t feel bad. Many of my clients have a difficult time identifying their desires. Life gets busy and you might be in survival mode instead of dream mode. It’s important to take the time to examine what is really important to you and to know why these things are important to you. You are allowed to change your mind as you go.
