The Truth about Treats – 44 Inexpensive Ways to Treat Yourself

I posed a question on FaceBook, “What are your favourite & inexpensive ways to treat yourself?” So many fantastic suggestions flowed in that it would have been a shame to let them disappear into the FaceBook feed.

Here are the treat ideas I gathered from my friends and a few from my own personal list. Yes, I have list a list of treats tacked to the bulletin board in my office. The list is titled, “Activities that Bring Me Joy.”

Read through this list below and schedule some treats into your calendar ASAP. Feel your level of joy sky-rocket immediately!

  1. Fresh flowers
  2. Browsing at a bookstore
  3. Peppermint tea, a cozy blanket and Netflix
  4. Trading back and foot massages with your kids
  5. Almond butter oatmeal balls with dark chocolate chips
  6. Taking a walk first thing in the morning
  7. Sitting outside
  8. A coffee in the sunshine
  9. A glass of wine (in the nice glasses!)
  10. Painting
  11. Knitting
  12. Reading a magazine or a book (undisturbed by children or the husband).
  13. Riding my horse
  14. Visiting with girlfriends
  15. Sleeping in
  16. Ignoring all the household duties and sitting down/running around with my kids and playing with them
  17. Sketching with a good old paper and pencil, fresh flowers picked from garden and a cup of tea
  18. Coffee with a friend
  19. Ice cream/Gelato and a walk by the river
  20. A good chat with a close friend
  21. LATTES!!!
  22. It’s all about the nap right now
  23. Early bedtimes
  24. Long showers
  25. Random acts of kindness!
  26. Lighting a candle
  27. Time in silence
  28. Epsom bath
  29. Savouring a favourite tea
  30. Walk in nature
  31. Trail running
  32. Coloring and doodling
  33. A tidy house
  34. Campfire
  35. Catching the sunset
  36. Waking early to catch the sunrise
  37. A bike ride
  38. A hike
  39. Meditating.
  40. Giving myself a mani/pedi at home
  41. Getting a tea and wandering around Prince’s Island Park
  42. When I can be physically active in my classes I Coach or teach. I feel more connected to my “team” that way
  43. Browsing at a bookstore
  44. Making chocolate love bombs
