Ditch Your New Year’s Resolutions

January is here and you may already be working on your resolutions to get your energy back by eating healthier. You want to look and feel fabulous. This year you need to be smart about it because last year you had the best of intentions but failed to stick to your plan.

Last January you swore off chocolate, coffee and wine and attempted to detox your body.

You promised to drink green juice every morning and eat a salad for lunch.

Your social life took a hit too because you placed so many restrictions on yourself.

You tapped into your will-power reserves and tried to white knuckle it through each day.

It was an exhausting and guilt ridden experience that didn’t produce the results you wanted. You get depressed just thinking about it.

If whatever you are doing now isn’t working, doesn’t it make sense to try something different?

I want to propose something new this year.

Let’s declare 2015 the year of ENRICHMENT instead of restriction.

We are always trying to be kind to others and “pay it forward.” What if we were kinder to ourselves?

Let’s stop beating ourselves up for not being perfect and make 2015 the year of ENRICHMENT.

ENRICH your life with real nutrient dense food. You will naturally squeeze out fake, nutrient poor food without jumping on the restriction train.

What would that look like for you?

For me it means making bone broth in my slow cooker so I can easily make soups, stews and hearty dishes. I don’t need to drink green juice and eat raw salads that leave me shaky and cold.

There is a difference between forcing yourself to eat healthy food and choosing food that nourishes your body and soul. Know where your line is and respect it.

For me this means relying on natural energy boosting foods and drinks instead of reaching for coffee and chocolate to prop me up.

This doesn’t mean that I’m not allowed to have coffee or chocolate in January. Swearing off of these treats would use up all my willpower and lead me to rebel.

It means that I’m not going to rely on them for false energy everyday. I’m going to choose a healthier energy boosting alternatives.

I invite you to take some time this month to reflect on how you can ENRICH your life with real nutrient dense food. Imagine how good you will feel!
